Here's the short answer: just book it! You don't have to do a whole series, our practitioners can adapt to what you need right now. If you're thinking "I don't know if I can take it" -- there's nothing to take, we don't have a required technique we have to force on you.
We work with what your body, your nervous system, your whole self, really wants -- we can stay just with the most superficial structures if that's what's available -- or we might get down to the bone if that is. But we're not "breaking down" anything, not even scar tissue.

Most of a typical session feels like a manual therapy treatment in very slow strokes; often clients say it's everything they wanted out of "deep tissue massage", but also "it's not like a massage at all" if compared to a spa treatment. We can make a session relaxing if that's what is needed on a particular day, but we're working towards a deep, clear sense of embodiment within gravity, and the popular side effect that brings most clients to Rolfing® SI is that aches and pains tend to disappear once the whole person is using the field of gravity as their support. Towards that goal, a Rolfer assesses a client in standing and often a couple of movements like walking a few steps. We don't need to get into details because what is hindering organization within gravity is usually easy to see and feel. So after a few minutes, you're hearing a possible plan for the session, and it's your responsibility to say "no way that doesn't sound right" and your Rolfer will gladly follow your guidance.
Our training has given us a protocol but also a lot of tools and strategies outside of that, and most importantly, this is your treatment.

We don't force results on you. If that day is not the day for work on your ribs, that's ok.
We can gently work on your feet for an hour or massage your scalp if that's what helps you feel more integrated after a rough week.

Eventually you may find that you don't live in your body anymore as if it's a house -- you are your body, you feel whole and the field of gravity supports you, and you have the energy to move through life with effortless grace.
That is the goal of Rolfing, and the best thing about it is that no more treatments are necessary to maintain it:
Embodiment is yours once you have it.
